Wallace State Community College’s Engineering Technology program provides a pathway to give you opportunities to see exactly where you fit in the engineering world.

For students seeking advanced skills, the Engineering Technology degrees build on the foundation provided by the first-year certificate. Students acquire advanced skills in computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), composites technology, and automation. Students will culminate their studies with an advanced project incorporating the four disciplines in the AAS degree. With this degree, students should be able to find employment as advanced CNC technicians, CAD technicians, and maintenance professionals.

The Foundation Course (FC) offered by the School of Economics and Management (SEM) is a one-year, multidisciplinary, pre-university course, fully taught in English. After completion, students acquire 60 Foundation Course Credits (FCC), computed on the basis of the equivalence 1 FCC 25 hours of total student commitment = 8 hours of classroom lessons + up to 1.6 hours of exercise classes.

San Jose City College offers two certificates and an Associate in Science (A.S.) in Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Technology. This program is designed to develop the appreciation, knowledge, and skills essential for employment in the air conditioning and refrigeration industry. Instruction includes both theory and practical work with refrigeration and air conditioning machinery, electrical equipment, and related mathematics. A grade of "C" or better is required in each course in the major and approved major electives for each certificate and degree.

The Engineering Technology program provides students with skills as they relate to computer-aided drafting, surveying (Civil, Geomatics), Solid Modeling and CNC Machining (Mechanical option), and other similar skill sets. In addition, the program offers a background in mathematics (through trigonometry), physics, communications, writing, and design concepts.

Our School puts exciting industry-leading technology into your hands. We have commercial flight simulators and supersonic wind tunnels, so you can fly a variety of aircraft, even ones you’ve designed yourself. We have a Formula One driving simulator and a manufacturing fabrication workshop on campus. You will take advantage of laboratories dedicated to system-on-chip technology, smart systems, material properties and testing, media technology and digital broadcasting. This certificate, the second-level in a stackable certificate model, offers non-traditional, under-represented, career-changer, and veteran students, in addition to traditional students, skills in a field with great job opportunities.

Mechatronics courses combine various disciplines to teach you a holistic approach to developing solutions for engineering applications. You will be able to add to your skillset practical knowledge in the integration of electrical systems, fluid power, electronics, computer controls, PLCs, instrumentation, robotics, and information technology.

The NVQ is work-based and is designed to reflect the skills and knowledge of people who work in the engineering industry. The qualification is taken over 12-18 months, depending on each individual.
