The SMOAC is a short introductory module that aims to give you an overview of the breadth of today’s offshore and maritime operations, as well as providing an introduction into distance learning and academic research and writing. 

In CISOD - Food, Sustainability and Rights the Seasonal School will introduce participants to the urgent topic of food sustainability, exploring how to build sustainable and climate-resilient agri-food systems through a dialogue between social and life sciences. Regulatory and non-regulatory measures for socially inclusive and environmentally more efficient food systems will be addressed.

By attending this course, you will consider the principles and practices of corporate responsibility, looking at how it has evolved from philanthropic and religious roots into an enterprise-wide philosophy and a call to action for sustainability. It will consider why adopting a sustainable approach makes business sense for companies today, how it applies to different sectors, and why organizations need to take account of their various stakeholders when developing a sustainability plan. This course will also consider the "people dimension" in sustainability.

The Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Leadership is for existing or future leaders who want to ensure sustainability is at the forefront of their profession. The program is designed for individuals seeking career progression or those looking to equip themselves with contemporary knowledge about advancements and how to report and present sustainability initiatives and outcomes. Topics include science data, policies, climate change and sustainability practice to develop an all-encompassing skill set for leaders, or emerging leaders, who have sustainability as one of their priorities.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Science (PGDipSci) is a one-year program which builds on an undergraduate science degree. The diploma encompasses both papers and a research topic, and can be taken full-time. It provides possible to the Master of Science (MSc) degree by thesis only.

At our 2024 Sustainability Summer Programme, we offer students the chance to join our world class academic colleagues from the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy to look at the concept of Sustainability and how STEM can help society work towards this goal. Within this accredited course, we will explore different areas of STEM with a view to encouraging and inspiring innovations by bringing people together from all over the world to explore practical solutions.

The Sustainability minor prepares students to become environmental innovators in the workplace and in their communities. It is ideal for those pursuing careers in areas such as psychology/animal studies concentration, environmental advocacy, marine and environmental education, environmental policy-making, park services, non-profit management, and environmental law.

The Design for Sustainability and Circular Economies Certificate will facilitate and support design professionals in their practice-based enquiry into design for sustainability. The continued professional development course structure will increase awareness and shine a light on opportunities and challenges facing design practices by critically evaluating the current cultural, social, economic and ecological landscapes and interrogating their existing models and approaches to design for sustainability and circular economies.

After the course, as a sales and trading employee or administrative employee, you will have knowledge of circular business models including, for example, circular value chains, recycling and relevant industry legislation, and can contribute to the company's green transition in collaboration with the company's other employees.
