This course teaches key methods for solving modern macroeconomic models, including those able to account for agent heterogeneity. Participants will obtain detailed theoretical knowledge of and hands-on experience with linearization techniques, non-linear solution methods and approaches for solving heterogeneous agent models with and without aggregate uncertainty.

The course begins with an introduction to Computational Psychology and Artificial Intelligence, exploring the ways in which process-based computational models may be used to represent the workings of the human brain, employing algorithms to simulate aspects of cognition and predict behavior. We shall then turn to how such models correlate with neurobiology, the actual network of cells and signals which constitutes the brain, investigating neuron models, how neural networks perform computations, and neuropsychological theories of learning.

Generative AI promises to be one of the most transformative technologies of the coming decade. Following the widespread adoption of Large Language Model tools such as Chat GPT and Dall-E, entrepreneurs have been experimenting with how they can use these technologies to create new ventures and disrupt established industries.

This module aims to give you a distinctive critical introduction to British Cultures as broadly conceived. We will study a variety of different cultural forms and genres which range from the late medieval period through to the present day. This gives you the opportunity to study familiar texts in depth whilst introducing you to a broader and more diverse set of materials than you might yet have encountered. The aim is to equip you with the skills that will enable you to interpret examples of British Culture in relation to their historical, literary, and cultural contexts. The module is taught by a convenor with frequent guest contributions from academics in the department with research interests in particular areas.

The LAT Summer Trading School Programme has been designed for school and university students looking for a more vocational approach to finance and trading. Based online, on the LAT trading floor or via a blended combination, students will learn about different financial markets and how they are traded, as well as the practicalities of trading from a fundamental or technical perspective.

This course in Vogue Summer School: Fashion Business is a concentrated four-week programme that offers a broad introduction to the business of fashion through the expert eye of Vogue College of Fashion, the world’s most famous and influential publishing media house and its renowned fashion magazines – VOGUE and GQ.  

This unique pre-university course is specially designed for high school students who are planning to pursue an undergraduate degree. By covering subjects including Economics, Politics and Sociology, this course will use the theme of Equality to explore how this topic appears in different disciplines across the Social Sciences. Students will have the chance to explore and stimulate their own interests in a range of topics, and to deepen their understanding of contemporary social issues. Throughout the course, students will also take part in skills sessions which will help improve their approach to academic writing, research and discussion – all key skills for undergraduate study.
