Students at ISSOS who choose our journalism summer course will be taught to sharpen their research and writing skills and debate social, political and ethical issues. These skills have wide-ranging applications and will stand students in good stead during their education and beyond.

Has this digital age democratized who we see behind and in front of the camera? Does this open up pathways to civic participation and artistic expression? Or will these rapid technological changes just fade into history as just another phase of cinema? This course will explore these big questions in the context of a hands-on film production class.

The Summer School August comprises subject courses, a German language course (A0-A2), and an intercultural workshop. The courses and excursions are compulsory for all participants within the Summer School. Students can choose in the application form between subject courses of Track (A) and Track (B).

This is the introductory prerequisite course in the computer graphics sequence which introduces students to the technical concepts behind creating synthetic computer-generated images. This is the first course in the computer graphics sequence at Stanford.

A practical approach to the art of public speaking. Emphasis is on developing skills in speech types including impromptu, personal experience, interviewing, demonstration, persuasive, and special occasions. Materials include videotape, texts of famous speeches, and a final dinner program of speeches. Students evaluate presentations by others. $55 materials fee. Graduate Prerequisites: (STHTC703 & STHTC708) - Supervised practice of ministry in a congregational setting or community agency combined with participation in a peer reflection-learning group focused on the integration of theology and practice. MDIV CORE REQUIREMENT.

Students acquire fundamental newsgathering and writing skills needed to thrive as a journalist working in any platform. The course is based in the classroom, but students are expected to learn and adhere to professional newsroom standards.

Introduces students to key aesthetic aspects of film. Students study a variety of historical and contemporary examples of fiction and nonfiction films that illustrate the expressive possibilities of image and sound. Students learn to analyze, explain, and write about these formal elements.

In this course, students will learn how businesses communicate to their different stakeholders in the context of the Internet and social media, with a focus on how different communication models are used on the most popular social media platforms.

Storytelling is an extremely important skill for designers and researchers to master. This workshop will teach key storytelling strategies and techniques used in a variety of media, including fiction, non-fiction, film, art, and design; and show how to apply them to interaction design through a series of discussions and exercises.
