The Associate Degree for Transfer in Nutrition and Dietetics prepares students for success in a baccalaureate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with the lower division course work required to transfer into the CSU system. Students completing the Associate Degree for Transfer in Nutrition and Dietetics will be prepared to transfer to a CSU as juniors and pursue a baccalaureate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. Students transferring to a non-CSU campus should consult the catalog and determine the specific campus requirements to which they are applying. The study of Nutrition provides a broad foundation in practical and personally applicable exposure to various scientific areas of nutrition, such as Chemistry, Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Biology. Students in the program learn how the scientific method and process contribute to nutritional requirements and how nutrients function from a cellular to a more practical level and then apply this knowledge to their health. This program will help the student understand the relationship between nutrition and disease prevention throughout life.

The Nutrition and Food Service Management program at Centennial College is the longest-established two-year program of its kind in the Greater Toronto Area. To earn an Associate of Science in Nutrition for Transfer degree, a student must complete 60 semester units that are eligible for transfer to the CSU system that consists of the IGETC pattern or CSU GE breadth and a major of 18 units more.

This course provides an introduction in the scientific foundations of nutrition and focuses on the relationship between diet and health. Scientific information is presented in preparation for discussion of macro- and micro nutrients, including metabolism, and the role of nutrition in human health and disease.

The Associate in Science in Nutrition and Dietetics for Transfer (AS-T Nutrition and Dietetics) degree is intended to meet the lower-division requirements for nutrition and dietetics majors or majors that have been deemed similar in the California State University (CSU) system. The degree prepares students to function in a variety of nutrition, public health, and clinical settings and is for students who seek to transfer to a CSU institution or to prepare for a career in nutrition and dietetics by meeting the requirements to work in a variety of health and wellness settings.
