More than 150 programs offered provide rewarding careers in business, information technology, health, mining, transportation, and other sectors for graduates (with more than 80 programs available to international students). Saskatchewan Polytechnic has a consistently high graduate employment rate and a global reputation for innovative, industry-focused programming.

We aim to inspire success in every learning journey, which in turn inspires each of us to go above and beyond expectations to achieve the highest levels of quality—in our teaching, our programming, our learning, and our services. We are able to do this by maintaining high standards, strong competencies, committed partnerships, and being responsive and accessible. We foster an open and inclusive environment that embraces diverse cultures, heritages, and opinions.

Vision, mission, and mandate

Saskatchewan Polytechnic serves students through applied learning opportunities on Treaty 4 and Treaty 6 Territories and the homeland of the Métis people. Learning takes place at campuses in Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina, and Saskatoon and through extensive distance education opportunities. Programs serve every economic and public service sector. As a polytechnic, the organization provides the depth of learning appropriate to employer and student needs, including certificate, diploma and degree programs, and apprenticeship training. Saskatchewan Polytechnic engages in applied research, drawing on faculty expertise to support innovation by employers, and providing students the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills.

Purpose

We empower a better Saskatchewan.

This is why we exist, and the foundation upon which everything we do is built. Saskatchewan Polytechnic is the driving force that empowers and strengthens our province in everything we do. We encourage an economically and socially stronger, more informed, and better-prepared Saskatchewan. We realize opportunities for individuals (learners, staff, faculty, employers) and the collective—Saskatchewan at large. And through our leadership position in Saskatchewan, we establish our reputation nationally and around the world. We have an ultimate reason for being, which inspires not only our vision and mission but hopefully everyone that connects with Saskatchewan Polytechnic.

Vision

To lead the rise of polytechnic education.

Our vision defines where we want the strategic plan to take us. As we look forward to this new decade, applied education has never been more critical to our collective success, at home and around the world. Our leadership position comes from a drive to define the reputation of polytechnic education in Canada and establish its role in building a better future.

Mission

Inspire success in every learning journey.

Our mission establishes how we will achieve our vision. Saskatchewan Polytechnic is passionate about creating an environment where lifelong learners gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities to achieve and succeed at work, in their communities, and in life. We know that by empowering learners to realize their aspirations throughout their learning journey, we are building a better Saskatchewan and a better world.

Values

Respect

We support every learning journey, whether for our students, colleagues, or industry partners. And so we show our care for one another and our workplace. We foster an open and inclusive environment that embraces diverse cultures, heritages, and opinions. We honor, learn from, work with and support each other as one team.

Integrity

We are leaders in the global polytechnic community, and as such we are honest and fair in all we do. We are committed to being accountable and transparent. We are truthful with one another. We hold ourselves to high standards of ethical behavior and take responsibility for our actions.

Sustainability

We aim to empower a better future by leading the rise of polytechnic education. Therefore, we work, live, and learn in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. We support the health, safety, and overall well-being of our learners, employees, and partners. We are conscientious stewards of our resources and continuously look for entrepreneurial and creative ways to strengthen and improve our institution.

Excellence

We aim to inspire success in every learning journey, which in turn inspires each of us to go above and beyond expectations to achieve the highest levels of quality—in our teaching, our programming, our learning, and our services. We are able to do this by maintaining high standards, strong competencies, committed partnerships, and being responsive and accessible.

Advantages

Impressive achievements which we proudly bring to our students:

  • Grads are in demand: 94% of employers would hire a Saskatchewan Polytechnic grad again. Learn by doing: Approximately two-thirds of our programs offer a work-integrated, learning component to gain real-world experience.
  • Strong industry connection: 92% employment rate within six months to one year of graduation.
  • Small classes with 25-30 people. If you like the small class feel, this is great for you.
  • Strength in applied research: Students are encouraged and supported by faculty to partner with businesses, industry, and the community on applied research projects that provide real-world solutions to today’s challenges.
  • We offer optional Coop programs in conjunction with students’ studies, which allows students to work in their field, alongside industry leaders in Saskatchewan.
  • Diploma to Degree transfer for most of the diploma programs.
  • The First Qualified/First Admitted (FQFA) is the admission method for the majority of programs and helps to secure seats up to 10 months ahead of school start dates.
  • Saskatchewan offers free health care for international students.
  • GRP provides a tax credit for graduates who stays and works in Saskatchewan after graduation. Can receive up to $6400 of your tuition back after studying with us.
  • SINP is arguably one of the best provincial nominee programs for students in the country. SINP provided a very direct path to permanent residency for students looking to immigrate to Canada following graduation. The Saskatchewan government is actively attracting young people to the province. We have the lowest percentage of 18 to 64-year-old people in the country – this is the labor force.

    Admissions

Apply for a Saskatchewan Polytechnic Program as an International Student

    Select Your Program

Saskatchewan Polytechnic has many programs that are available to international students; however, some programs do not accept international students or are full for the upcoming intake. Contact us to learn about Saskatchewan Polytechnic programs available to International Students. Note that your application is considered for the next upcoming intake. Many of our programs have only one intake per year.

Most programs are First Qualified/First Admitted (FQFA), though some are Competitive.

    Review Requirements

Be prepared to prove you meet the admission requirements for the program to which you are applying. Admission requirements are program specific. All relevant documents, including transcripts, must be submitted to Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Scanned copies of documents are accepted from applicants for an initial assessment. Assessors may require documents to be sent directly from the related institution(s) or require your originals. Prepare to provide proof of legal name change if applicable.

If your transcripts are in a language other than English, you must produce translated documents. If you require that your documents be translated into English, we recommend the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Saskatchewan (ATIS).

Admission offers are to a specific program at a specific campus, but you may choose to apply to more than one program or campus. Note, once an offer of admission is accepted and a seat is offered to your alternate program or campus, changing your program or campus incurs fees.

    Meet English Language Requirements

The language of instruction at Saskatchewan Polytechnic is English. International students must provide proof of English Language Proficiency.

Saskatchewan Polytechnic offers the IELTS test at our Saskatoon and Regina locations.

Saskatchewan Polytechnic also offers English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses. These courses will help you develop the language skills necessary to move from IELTS 4 to IELTS 6.5 through a series of courses. You can receive admission to Saskatchewan Polytechnic's EAP courses, followed by one of the many Saskatchewan Polytechnic post-secondary programs with general English Language Proficiency requirements, that are available to international applicants. When you apply to one of our programs, you are automatically considered for EAP by providing your IELTS score.

    Apply

Applications open every October for the following academic year. Complete your application by May 1 to ensure consideration for programs beginning in September. If you choose to apply after May 1, please remember that combined processing times (Saskatchewan Polytechnic and IRCC) may not give you enough time to begin your studies in the fall.

To complete your application, use the application guide and follow the steps listed. International applicants must apply online and pay by credit card. The international application fee is $150.

You may complete all sections immediately or return to complete them at your convenience. To leave and return later, click Finish Later. Your information is transmitted through a secured server and is kept confidential until you submit your application. Only after you submit your application will the Registration Services staff review it.

Once you have applied to the program, submit scanned colored documents by email with a Foreign Document Submission Cover Page. Emailed transcripts, credentials and identity documents must be official; that is they must be scans or photos of original official documents. Ensure that the scanned documents are submitted as unprotected PDF attachments, are in color, and are entirely readable. All documentation, if not issued in English, must include notarized translations into English.

A final unconditional decision on your application cannot be made until all official documents, including translations, are reviewed and verified as required by Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Submission of unofficial documents will be refused. Affiliated college transcripts will not be considered for admission; copies of transcripts must be from awarding institution.

Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing applicants will require official documents sent directly from the issuing institution.

Applicants with studies within Canadian institutions are required to send documents directly from the awarding institution.

Saskatchewan Polytechnic reserves the right to require the original version of an admission or identity document. You may be randomly selected for an audit. If this occurs, you will be notified through your mySaskpolytech letter portal. If you are an international student, make sure that you bring the original versions or certified true copies of your documents to Canada to avoid having to make arrangements remotely.

If selected for an audit, ensure documents that are requested by our assessors are submitted as early as possible by one of the three methods:

    • Arrange to have an original document sent directly by the issuing institution by email for electronic transcripts or by mail
    • Supply a certified true copy of the required documents, or
    • Submit your original documents to your local campus as stated in the letter of request. We will arrange to return them to you as soon as possible. Please ensure your submission includes:
      • a list of the documents enclosed for the audit, and
      • your Saskatchewan Polytechnic identification number.

    Your Application Decision

For the majority of Saskatchewan Polytechnic programs, it will take 15 business days to assess your application after all required documentation is submitted. You will be notified by Saskatchewan Polytechnic via email on how you will receive the decision of your application through our mySaskPolytech portal.

If accepted, you will be required to pay a non-refundable tuition deposit of $10,000 CAD within 30 days (or less) to secure your seat. You may also be required to pay partial tuition during that timeframe. Note that receipts for payments are sent to your Saskatchewan Polytechnic email.

Apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)

An international student is a visitor to Canada who is legally permitted to study in Canada in accordance with the Canada Immigration Act. For more information regarding studying in Canada, study permits, or visas, please check the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) web page.

    During Your Stay

Double check the information, including the renewal date of your passport, for their accuracy. Plan for renewal during your stay if necessary.

All campuses maintain housing registries to help students find accommodations. You can also consider staying with a Canadian family through the Canada Homestay Network.

    Tuition and Fees Payments

You will be requested to pay a non-refundable tuition deposit of $10,000 CAD within 30 days (or less) to secure your seat. The remainder of tuition and fees are due when you begin your studies at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Please view your payment options if you are abroad. Once you are in Canada, please view your options. Note that receipts are sent to your Saskatchewan Polytechnic email account within 5 business days of a payment being received.

If you choose to withdraw from a program, you must submit a withdrawal request. Sask Polytech will refund any tuition amounts (less the non-refundable deposit) within four-six weeks.
