Introduction

The Information Systems & Technology Associate of Science degree prepares students for transfer into bachelor’s degree programs at four-year colleges and universities. Graduates have transferred to such prestigious schools as Rutgers University, Seton Hall University, and New Jersey Institute of Technology.

The area of information systems, under the headings of Information Systems (IS) and Information Technology (IT), has become critical to the operation of many organizations. The field has evolved from a cost center to one where IS and IT operations are providing strategic value to corporations. The knowledge required to be effective in this field has also grown. IS and IT staff must understand not only how computers operate, but also how they can be effectively networked together. The use of internet technologies has become pervasive and database management has also become an integral function.

The Information Systems & Technology Associate of Science degree is designed to provide students who intend to transfer to four-year institutions with a strong and broad background in the area of IS and IT. Key courses are provided in the area of web development, networking, and database development. In addition, the program develops strong programming skills in a programming language of the student’s choice.

The RVCC Advantage for International Students

Personalized Attention

Step into a classroom and you’ll feel like you belong. Unlike at larger colleges and universities where you’re just a number in a large lecture hall being taught by a teaching assistant, at RVCC our classes average only 19 students and are taught by the professors themselves.

Scholarship Opportunities

International students are among the recipients of College scholarships. Every year the College awards $300,000 in scholarships to students based on academic achievement and financial need. Our innovative Galileo Scholarship provides faculty mentors and internship opportunities, as well as financial support, for students majoring in science, math, engineering, or technology.

Leadership Opportunities

RVCC offers numerous ways for you to hone your leadership skills. Consider joining the Student Government Association, representing the College as a Student Ambassador, or becoming an officer in a student club or leader of an athletics team. RVCC recently became a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, the largest leadership honor society in the nation.

Vibrant, Diverse Student Life

At RVCC you’ll be part of a tight-knit community filled with a world of experiences – both social and intellectual. We have more than 50 clubs and organizations and nine athletic teams. From lecture series to student performances, to life-changing community service opportunities, to clubs and organizations of all skills and interests, the student experience at RVCC is boundless.
