You’ll be prepared for a successful career as a restaurant manager, food service supervisor, catering manager, or any other role in the hospitality industry.
What Will I Learn about Food and Beverage Management?
At Johnson County Community College, Food and Beverage Management is a degree path in our Hospitality Management program. Throughout our Food and Beverage Management courses, you will gain valuable skills for an active work environment.
In 68 credit hours, you’ll learn:
Techniques to successfully supervise a team and manage human resources
Accounting strategies, operational cost control, and profitability for the hospitality industry
Laws and regulations related to running a safe and sanitary food service operation
Procurement, purchasing, and inventory controls
Foodservice design including equipment location, electrical, water, and refrigeration needs, waste disposal, energy management, and sustainability
Strong skills in professional cooking, baking, and food preparation
Nutrition and healthy meal planning
Marketing and menu design
You can also choose from various electives, including nutrition therapy, catering, and Spanish for hospitality management.
After completing four semesters of coursework, you will earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Food and Beverage Management. With this degree, you’ll be ready for an entry-level supervisory or manager position.
