Introduction
Train to become a Counsellor by achieving our advanced CPCAB counseling qualification at Level 4.
Learn how to advise and support people experiencing emotional difficulties or challenges.
What will I learn?
This is an advanced course which is suitable for anyone who has already completed both the CPCAB counseling courses at Level 2 and Level 3 - both of which are offered at Barking & Dagenham College.
This course offers both practical and theoretical training covering:
- counseling skills
- concepts of counseling
- beginning theory and skills in counseling
- personal therapy
- theory and practice
On the practical side, you will start to work with real clients and will need to secure a placement in an outside agency. Over the 2 years of the course, you need to have completed a minimum of 100 voluntary counseling hours. You are required to attend supervision.
You will also be required to undertake 20 hours of personal therapy each year.
It is also essential that you become a student member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists (BACP). You can find the details of membership on the BACP website.
