This program prepares students for a career in the hairstyling industry. This detailed program goes beyond basic knowledge, providing an extensive overview of different styling and cutting methods, product knowledge, tinting, and bleaching techniques. After completing this program, students will recognize hair types, conditions, treatments, and applications.

The BARBER/STYLIST postsecondary instructional program prepares individuals to cut, colour, perm, shampoo, and style hair. Students are also instructed on the proper techniques for facial massaging and shaving. Special attention is given to hygiene, safety, skin, scalp diseases, and equipment sterilization.

The VTCT VRQ Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing is a Full-time Further Education course designed for students who are interested in a career as a hairdresser within the hairdressing and applied therapies industry. This is located in the Hairdressing and Applied Therapies (HAT) department.

This course has been specifically designed for you to continue to develop your practical and creative barbering skills to an advanced level. During this course you will learn a variety of techniques to creatively cut men's hair and understand the intricate work of creating facial hair designs, including using a blade to outline cuts and facial hair, along with wet shaving. You will also learn how to promote, market and plan the financial effectiveness of your business.

This certificate program is designed to provide Cosmetology students with the necessary knowledge and skills required by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations for licensure.
