The Foundation Course (FC) offered by the School of Economics and Management (SEM) is a one-year, multidisciplinary, pre-university course, fully taught in English. After completion, students acquire 60 Foundation Course Credits (FCC), computed on the basis of the equivalence 1 FCC 25 hours of total student commitment = 8 hours of classroom lessons + up to 1.6 hours of exercise classes.

Having reached its fourth edition, the University for Foreigners of Siena has launched a one-year preparatory educational program named “Foundation Year” as recommended by the General Directorate for Higher Education Inclusion and Right to Study of the Italian Ministry for Universities and Research. Such a preparatory course aims at representing an ideal bridge in order to facilitate students with different educational backgrounds who wish to enroll in Italian Universities and Academies. The Foundation Year aims at offering students a solid preparation in Linguistics, Pedagogy, Philology and Literature, History, and Art Studies. Taking into consideration learners’ prospective studies, specific study programs based on macro-disciplinary contents might be additionally planned and implemented.
