The Addictive Disorders Counseling Program is designed to prepare students to work in the field of addiction counseling. Both a Certificate of Achievement and an Associate Degree are available. Ethnic Studies is the interdisciplinary critical and comparative study of race and ethnicity, focusing on the experiences of African American, Native American/Indigenous, Asian American/Pacific Islander, and Chicana/o/x/Latina/o/x populations. Ethnic Studies provides an intersectional and critical lens for studying racial, ethnic, gender and class identities, and for interrogating structural racism, power, knowledge, and racialization in culture, politics, economy, and law.

The course aims to give students a broad understanding of research methodology. This course will provide an opportunity for students to establish their understanding of research methodology through critical exploration of research concepts, ethics, and approaches. The course introduces the principle of research, ethics and challenges, and the elements of the research process within quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches. Participants will use these theoretical underpinnings to begin to critically review literature relevant to their field or interests and determine how research findings are useful in forming their understanding of their work, social, local and global environment.

The Graduate Certificate in Humane Education comprises the five core courses required for the master’s degrees in humane education (listed below). Students who already have a master’s or doctoral degree, or who are not interested in pursuing a full degree, are welcome to apply to the Graduate Certificate program to develop expertise in the foundations of humane education.
