The Associate of Science Degree for Transfer (AS-T) in Biology is designed for students who plan to transfer to CSU as biology majors. In this program, they gain exposure to the five main topics of biology (cell, molecular, organismal biology, evolution, and ecology).

This degree is intended to prepare students to transfer to Washington’s public four-year colleges and universities and many private colleges with junior standing and the majority of the prerequisites for selected science, mathematics, and engineering majors completed. This degree partially fulfills the general education requirements as explained in the Associate of Arts, Direct Transfer Agreement, AA-DTA degree. This degree does not guarantee admission into the major.

This course introduces basic pain concepts, pain pathways, and their underlying neurobiology. Topics will incorporate diagnosis, symptoms and presentation, and treatment using pain experts across the medical field-- such as physicians, veterinarians, dentists, and pharmacists. The course will introduce scientists and clinical researchers, and highlight their work.

The Biology program map below includes all of your major coursework and recommended general education courses by term that is needed to fulfill your degree and transfer requirements. This pathway is geared toward students working toward transfer to CSU, but can be used for transfer to University of California (UC) System as well. Those students working toward transfer to UC should take CHE-12A and CHE-12B (Organic Chemistry I and II) instead of or in addition to PHY-2A and PHY-2B.

Beep - Biology for Human Space Exploration Seasonal School will introduce participants to the urgent topic of space biology, a discipline that aims at developing a better understanding of how life operates in built environments in space, or in ground-based experiments that mimic aspects of spaceflight, to prepare for future human exploration missions far from Earth.

Biologists are employed in research, teaching, administration, service, and sales in governmental agencies, educational institutions, private businesses, and industries. Along with chemistry, biology is also a degree that should be considered by a student whose career goal is a doctorate-level credential in a health-related field. An undergraduate degree in biology can be a stepping stone to a career as a doctor, dentist, orthodontist, or veterinarian, for example. Students should keep in mind that to gain entrance to a doctorate-level program, completing the required prerequisites is generally more important than the type of degree obtained. With that in mind, students should study the prerequisites of the programs to which they plan to apply and work closely with advisors to make sure that those prerequisites are satisfied.

The Human Biology Associate in Science degree provides a solid foundation in the biological sciences for students who are seeking entry to nursing and related health occupations. Completion of this degree meets all Biology and Chemistry prerequisites for admission to the LVN and LVN-RN programs and fulfills many of the lower-division requirements for a variety of baccalaureate degrees in Health Sciences. This degree is not intended for pre-medical, pre-dental, or pre-pharmacy students (see A.S. or AS-T in Biological Sciences instead).

This course combines a theoretical framework with a dominant practical component for the central theme of Neuroscience Applied to Consumption, thus allowing each student to identify the potential of behavioral analysis, psychophysiological and electrophysiological data, applied to the context of consumption or interaction with individuals of consumption. The course comes with a dynamic and innovative engine to be integrated into existing practices in companies, and combined with more traditional market studies, the course content will be complementary and will motivate structural changes in companies and partners. It aims to show participants the importance of applying neuroscience in the context of business strategy, product creation, pricing strategy, distribution and communication. With this course, trainees will change their state of mind regarding the strategic interventions to be applied in companies, they will understand the importance of identifying and reacting to stimuli, and then adapt and create products, campaigns, prices, websites or packaging capable of involving your customers.
