This course gives you an insight into some of the diverse topics that can be studied in Mathematics. Pure Maths concepts such as Algebra, Trigonometry, Number Sequences, and Calculus will comprise 67% of the course.

Our Year 12 students generally undertake 5 subjects at Year 12. Moreover, the Year 12 experience includes a challenging set of mid-year examinations, set in part to prepare students for the final SACE examination or external assessment experience, but also as an important component of the Partner’s Pathway in their own right. For most of the Year 12 subjects, there is a lecture-tutorial system. These sessions are designed to maximise opportunities to learn skills and concepts in an effective manner and at the same time, to extend and refine student knowledge and understanding through discussion, debate and practical activities.

You'll learn about interactions and outcomes over space and time. You'll also gain and apply skills needed for further study and career opportunities related to geography. And you’ll get a deeper understanding of the connections between different aspects of geography.

Chemistry is a challenging A level, which complements the other science subjects well. It can also be studied as a contrast to arts and humanities subjects. It is excellent preparation and a requirement for some university courses. Students go on to study a wide variety of disciplines, including engineering, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, biochemistry, maths and economics.

Are you interested in the human and natural world? A-Level Geography is a hugely diverse and dynamic subject. You will explore a wide range of current environmental and political issues occurring around the world, including natural hazards, climate change, migration, development and globalisation.

The course is a mixture of physical and human geography and provides an opportunity to carry out fieldwork in the UK as well as overseas. You will also carry out an individual independent research project.

Whether it be in the sciences, business, sport or medicine we hope you will also enjoy studying mathematics for its own sake and come to appreciate its power and diversity. In order to solve problems in the real world, we often begin by translating the problem into mathematical equations to give us a clearer appreciation of the underlying aspects of the problem.

It is a focussed programme of study with a minimum of three subjects studied, usually over two years, with examinations in the second year. The CATS programme is specifically designed for motivated international students with additional English language support to help you excel in your studies. You can also study your A levels in one year on the CATS Fast-track programme if you want to progress to university sooner.

In addition to helping you understand many fascinating aspects of life processes and living things, this course places considerable emphasis on practical experimentation and the interpretation of data.

Geography relates to the world around us, it is topical, it is exciting and you are always actively involved in learning, either in the classroom or on field trips. Geography is suitable for anyone who has an interest in the study of the earth’s landscapes, people, places and environments.

The course itself is split into a grounding taught in the first year, that covers mechanics, materials, electricity, waves and particle physics alongside the essential practical skills. Year two covers includes an optional module on astrophysics and this is often what stimulates the most intense interest amongst students.

Geography is one of the largest departments in the School. All students in Year 8-10 study Geography, following a 3-year course that takes them through the basics of this varied subject. Following this introduction nearly half of our students continue the subject to GCSE, and a significant proportion of students study Geography at AS and A Level.

Attractive to both employers and universities, an A Level in maths is a highly desirable and versatile qualification. You will develop high level mathematical skills which will enable you to solve challenging problems. The main topics of study are pure maths, mechanics and statistics and these are assessed by three exam papers at the end of the two years (for AS maths, there are two exam papers at the end of the first year). At North Lindsey you will have the opportunity to sit 2 papers for AS mathematics at the end of the 1st year.
