Foundation Degree Information Communication Technology
This course is suitable for learners with a sound basic knowledge of Computing or Information Technology who wish to progress in these fields of employment or to a relevant degree course.
*This course is offered by Universities Heads of the Valleys Institute (UHOVI), a strategic partnership of the University of South Wales.
2 A Levels or a Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma in Information Communications Technology, plus GCSE Maths and English at grades A*-C.
You will be invited to attend an interview and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy to establish any support required.
What will I study?
You will study all aspects of ICT, from databases to web development, Developing Business Applications to Networking Concepts. During year two, you will study a large part of the course in the workplace, so the course content can be tailored to meet your career aspirations.
How will I be assessed?
The course will be delivered through a mix of traditional lectures and practical sessions. Some modules will be available online. Each module will have assessed assignments, and some will have an exam at the end.
Career Opportunities and Progression
On successful completion of the course, you will be able to put your knowledge into action in the workplace. It has a strong practical orientation and prepares you for a career in computer application design and development, user support and training, in commercial organisations and software houses. You can also progress onto a relevant degree course.
