Our School of English has a well-qualified, experienced team providing services for language learners at all levels.
Newcastle College English is accredited by the British Council and is a member of English UK.
Our classes are small and made up of students from a wide range of countries (over 30 different nationalities in 2014) so you have a wonderful opportunity to practise communicating with others and learn about other cultures in English.
Our courses are available at six different levels, from beginner to advanced. You will be tested on arrival and placed in the correct class based on your level and needs.
Price plans and payment
You can choose to study for as long or short a time as you like for full-time courses of 15, 21, 23 or 25 hours per week. Course fees are flexible dependent on the duration of your course. (Part-time hours are available for international students depending on visa status and for EU students.) There is a non-returnable registration and administration fee of £90 for all students on full-time courses. We do not charge for non-teaching weeks (for example, Christmas and Easter holidays). You need to pay the full fee before the start of your course. It is possible to extend your course end date depending on your visa.
Study time is flexible however, we do offer suggested programmes.
With flexible study options, the aim of the course is to provide a strong grounding in your development of your grammar and vocabulary according to your need and to develop your skills with extensive practice of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
All classes provide practice of all skills and you will follow a grammar and functional syllabus according to your level with options such as vocabulary, writing, speaking, Business English and more.
Learning and assessment
We always endeavour to teach multi-lingual groups and use a communicative method that makes learning fun and engaging without ever losing sight of the serious goals our students have.
You will be continually assessed by your teachers in class alongside taking regular tests. There is also the opportunity to take an accredited, international exam such as IELTS or one of the Cambridge Main Suite exams.
Career and progression opportunities

"I was really impressed by the quality of the teachers, the infrastructure, and the support I received from everyone in the International Office.
I think the city of Newcastle is lovely; the people are helpful and receptive and much warmer than those in London. The transportation system is good. There are many options for where to eat and shop in the city centre. I believe it is a very good place to live and study, I loved it. If you want to study here or even improve your English, I would certainly recommend."
