The Intensive Course of the World Breeding Academy (WBA) will provide students with an understanding of the fundamentals of the brewing process: its ingredients, its process, and the sensory evaluation of the final product. In this short course, students will have the opportunity to acquire important technical knowledge that can be applied in practice in breweries either high volume or artisanal.

The Intensive Course covers in five days most of the topics that are presented in our advanced level programs, but at a depth adapted for people who have a limited level of knowledge of science and technology of brewing. This is an ideal course for those who are considering entering the brewing industry, as well as those who have already begun their career in the brewing industry and seek greater knowledge in order to improve their skills and advance their careers as brewers.

This intensive course of the wba is the ideal course for ...

  • Employees of breweries that need additional training in the theory of brewing.
  • Brewing industry suppliers.
  • Personnel of beer distributors that seek to improve their knowledge of how beer is brewed.
  • People looking to enter the brewing industry, including future owners of micro-breweries.
  • People who wish to prepare for our advanced level courses, such as Associate, Diploma or Master Brewer.

The team of instructors for this course has a good variety of experiences from microbreweries to some of the largest breweries worldwide.

Dr. Hugo Patiño will supervise the team of instructors and will participate in the instruction of this course.

Dr. Patiño performed important technical functions in the areas of Quality Assurance, Research and Development, Laboratories and Technical Services, and Manufacturing Engineering in the brewing companies Molson Coors Brewing Co. (Colorado, USA) and Cervecería Cuauhtémoc (Mexico). He was also a faculty member at the University of California-Davis, and the Technological Institute of Monterrey (Mexico).
